“Mission Performance, you are a brilliant partner for us.”

Consulting On, Designing and Delivering an Organisation-Wide Leadership Conference
The client is a global professional services and technology organisation, which has worked with Mission Performance for the past decade. The work was commissioned by the Event Committee of its UK and Northern European business.
The Leadership Conference brings the leadership population together once a year. Rather than using the time to pass information and deliver business updates the Committee and leadership team wanted to create an aspirational event in which leaders led, were heard from, shared their own success stories, and built skill and capability while they were in the room. The conference was to be seen as the start of a movement, not a one-off.
Business need
To design and deliver a leadership conference for 180 leaders that abandoned the traditional format — slide decks, business updates, information passed from a presenter to a passive audience — and replaced it with something participative, ambitious and useful. The organisation needed a partner able to work across the whole task: consulting with the leadership committee on intent and theme, designing content that connected to real business challenges, delivering that content in the room, and holding the day together from the front of the stage.
What was delivered
Mission Performance worked as a full partner, from inception to delivery and beyond the day itself.
- Collaborative design from inception to delivery — working with the leadership committee to shape the understanding, intent and themes of the day.
- Three bespoke workshops for 180 leaders — designed against the event’s leadership themes and delivered on the day.
- Logistical and operational liaison — with the client, event and delivery teams.
- Full compere services — across the whole event.
- Full Show-Calling services — across the whole event.
- Individual coaching for leaders — on storytelling and on the delivery of their project success stories.
- Design and delivery of Digital toolkits — giving leaders the material to coach the themes down through their own teams.
- Conceptual frameworks for future leadership meetings — aligning the conference themes with real-world leadership scenarios, so the work continued after the day.
Outcomes
- Leaders engaged consistently as active participants rather than as an audience.
- Leaders shared their own experiences and success stories, coached in the lead up to the event to ensure that their delivery and content aligned with behaviours and strategic themes.
- Networking sessions that maximised time and played to previous years’ feedback.
- Knowledge and skill were built in the room, aligned to the organisation’s own challenges and goals.
- Digital toolkits and meeting structures carried the themes into the business after the event, which is what separates a movement from a conference.
The Mission Performance difference
We worked in collaboration with the event committee, using our experience to guide content and design to ensure their leadership aspirations were met. We designed individual workshops and activities across the day and coached leaders to give them the confidence and clarity required on a stage with an audience of 180 of their peers.
Mission Performance’s experience in identifying leadership development needs and running live events enabled us to create an interactive day-long conference that met the client’s aspirations in an interactive and authentic manner.
